Car Wash Industry Info

Building Tips

Before You Get Started

Plan ahead before you break ground.
The following information is provided to assist in the planning of a new car wash. Keep in mind that both the Wash Remote and Wash Vision systems can easily be installed in an existing car wash as well.

Wash Remote & Wash Vision SystemsWhere would you place one of our Systems?
Select a suitable location for your accounting and/or video system(s) while laying out the equipment room plans. Keep the following things in mind:
1. Make sure the area is easily accessible and that there is ample room. (Our systems mount to the wall and require an area of about 2 ft. x 2 ft. each)

2. Stay away from high pressure lines or other equipment that could spray water or chemicals onto the system(s).

3. An office that is separated from the equipment room is a great location.

Power and Phone outlets.
Once you have decided on the location, plan on providing a dedicated 120VAC circuit for the system(s). Two quad outlets should be installed and located high on the wall just above the area where the system(s) will be mounted. A phone jack should also be located near the power outlets.

Plan on running a second conduit to perimeter light poles and signs.
Running a second conduit to light poles and/or signs gives you the ability to have video cameras mounted on them. Trying to run a video cable or other "low-voltage" type of wiring in the same conduit as the high voltage wiring that supplies the light or sign it's power is not a smart practice. Interference from the high voltage power can cause distortion in video signals and fluctuating readings in low voltage systems. We recommend using 3/4" conduit for these low voltage conduit runs. These runs should be "homeruns" straight from the light post to the location in the equipment room where you plan on placing the system(s). Even if you don't use them right away, you'll always have the freedom to add or switch camera locations in the future.

Plan on running a second conduit to vacuum islands.
Running a second conduit to vacuum islands gives you the ability to easily capture revenue data from the vacuums for accounting systems, such as our Wash Remote system. Once again, trying to share the high voltage conduit with low voltage wiring can cause incorrect readings. If you do not have a low voltage conduit run to your vacuum islands and later decided that you wanted to capture revenue information for the vacuums, you would need to purchase a "current sensing relay" for each vacuum that you wanted to monitor. These relays will cost around $50.00 each and will only work if each vacuum is on it's own circuit breaker. Again, we recommend using 3/4" conduit and running "homeruns".

Run the low voltage conduit to where the System(s) will be located.
Make sure the low voltage conduit runs are brought up through the floor below the area where you plan on mounting the system(s). Have the electrician pull and tie off a string through each conduit.
